We talk often at Savor about creating bold flavor profiles, familiar favorites, and flavor combinations that take you on a world tour without leaving your kitchen. We strive to bring you and your customers the best possible product, the newest and most innovative flavors to meet your needs. But all of this could sound like we are trying to “reinvent the wheel”, potentially alienating an entire demographic of consumers who want to know what goes into their food and where the ingredients come from. For those health-conscious people, there is no need to worry. We are not looking to create new spices in our lab like a TV mad scientist. Instead, we want to take what is already available and use it in new ways.

But how can we do that?

Flavor Principles

Our team is highly skilled and trained to understand flavor principles. Flavor is a complex science, combining our five senses with our emotional experiences, our cultural habits, and our personal perception. This gives us a unique palate with likes and dislikes that are specifically ours.

We understand these flavor complexities, as well as the science behind things like particle sizes and how that affects your taste buds, when the flavor is likely to reach your tongue, and how certain flavors interact with each other and how they might change based on that interaction. Some flavors clash and create an exciting experience for your senses, while others are harmonious together and become one flavor instead of two.

Making use of all five of the flavor profiles (sweet, salty, umami, bitter, and sour), we can work with what the brain already knows and create something it has never tried before. Enhancing certain flavors over others in a dip, then using a similar combination for a snack food with different flavors in the spotlight, takes skill, as does flavor layering that creates complexities and depth.

Clean Ingredients

The best way for us to meet the needs of health-conscious consumers is to source quality ingredients. Knowing where our base ingredients come from means we can confidently say we provide the best of the best. We have scoured the globe to find the best ingredients from people who align with our values, which means we can confidently say we provide quality. This gives the consumer a much shorter ingredient list to read in the grocery store, building trust that they are buying the cleanest product they can find.

Using ingredients found in nature is another way we can reach this demographic. Exploring botanical flavors and extracts not only gives you a new way to explore flavor profiles, but it can also give you a more concentrated version of a flavor.

For example, fermented foods, like yeast extracts and seaweed, will enhance the umami and savory notes on a consumer’s palate, while also giving consumers ingredients that may have some benefits beyond tasting great.

Clean Label

Consumers are increasingly drawn to clean-label and organic products. Using plant-based flavorings caters to the needs of many people who are looking for clean ingredients in their snacks and dips but are unable to enjoy the foods they once loved because of health or ethical concerns. Providing transparency throughout the entire process will go a long way to winning over a loyal customer base, as they can understand the ingredients themselves.

Our goal at Savor Seasonings is to bring you the most innovative flavor combinations that will wow your consumers and keep them returning to you for their favorite foods. Almost everything we use in our blends is clean-label products, meaning we provide flavors that pack a punch on your palette with their freshness and their creative uses. From using spices and foods everyone is familiar with to enhancing their flavors with foods that are naturally good for you, we can and do give you the taste you are looking for that meets the desires of the health-conscious consumers.
